Lore & Background

In the film, R. J. Hacker, a military businessman, uses a software program called "Hacker Hellstorm" to activate missile silos across the country. He does this seeking revenge on the President for shutting down his business, Hacker Dynamics. The President learns that the signal causing the activation of the silos originated from Canada. Hacker offers to sell the President a program that can cancel out the Hellstorm for $1 trillion. With six minutes left before launch, National Security Advisor Stuart Smiley realizes Hacker is the one controlling the silos, not Canada. Stuart takes the operating codes from Hacker, accidentally killing him in the process. The missiles are aimed at Moscow. The President pleads with Canadian Prime Minister Clark MacDonald over the phone to stop the launch. Meanwhile, Honey, who had been captured and taken to a hospital, escapes to the CN Tower. She discovers the central computer for the Hellstorm and destroys it with a machine gun, aborting the launch sequence.

In Their Own Story

The air in the ruined city sector tasted of sulfur and ozone as the drone hovered silently above the alleyway. A single red light blinked on its undercarriage, locking onto the cluster of enemy vehicles below. There was no warning siren, only the sudden roar of a rocket motor igniting. The Hellstorm missile streaked downward, a comet of death against the gray sky. Impact was instantaneous; the world turned white, then orange. The asphalt liquefied, and the steel of the tanks warped like tinfoil in a kitchen oven. Within seconds, the alley was not just destroyed, but erased, replaced by a churning vortex of superheated ash.

Reader's Guide

The Hellstorm Missile is deployed as a precision-guided rocket designed to maximize thermal damage over a specific radius. When fired, it travels directly toward its target coordinates before detonating on contact with the ground or structure. Upon impact, the warhead ruptures to release a cloud of superheated plasma rather than traditional shrapnel. This creates an immediate firestorm that incinerates organic material and melts metal, making it highly effective against armored vehicles and entrenched infantry positions. In-game, this weapon is often utilized by specialized units or enemy commanders to clear rooms or chokepoints instantly. Operators must be wary of its area-of-effect nature, as the heat can linger and deny access to the zone for a short duration after detonation.
